"The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in." -Morrie Schwartz (Tuesdays with Morie)
Beautiful rainbow over the Uganda highlands near Mbale. The mountain in the background is Mt. Elgon...it straddles the Kenya/Uganda border.
Here's a humbling event: my leftover chicken bone is firmly fastened in the teacher's right hand. The kids jumped and screamed to get their hands on it all in hopes of enjoying some minuscule morsel of meat. I watched with amazement and deep sadness as the chicken I was gnawing on minutes earlier was suddenly being offered to hungry children (the school committee and teachers had made a special lunch for me and Jastus). Wow, if I only would have stopped sooner and acted full...
It sure makes you think when you go to a lunch buffet...
there's my leftover chicken bone in the bowl...
Barefoot (it seems that almost 50% of people in this area walk around without shoes...I can't help but be mind blown when I see people I know with dozens and dozens of pairs of shoes. Yet this man wears and probably owns none as he works in the fields. Can't afford it. Mind blowing! Makes ya think if that extra pair of high tops is what you need, or what you want.)
